Under Armour is a manufacturer of functional sportswear. The company is based in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. The business was started in 1996 by Kevin Plank (born 1972), at the time the special teams captain of the University of Maryland American football team. The business idea was born out of his frustration that his undershirt always got so sweaty under the giant American football pads.
