Berghaus was founded in 1966 in Newcastle, England by two mountaineers named Peter Lockey and Gordon Davison who, frustrated by the lack of quality climbing equipment, decided to import and sell it to others. Their small niche specialist store quickly became popular, offering easy access to quality equipment from leading manufacturers.
Over time, they also began to design and produce their own equipment. This high-quality and innovative range, inspired by what climbers actually wanted and needed, was the start of the Berghaus brand, which is now a world leader in the market. Their equipment is widely used by professional climbers worldwide.
